Notes

Virza’s built-in notes editor lets you capture ideas, summarize findings, and draft directly alongside your research documents.

Creating notes

  • Click New Note in the sidebar
  • Or open a document and click Create Note to start a note linked to that document

Rich text editor

The notes editor supports:

  • Headings: H1, H2, H3 for structure
  • Bold, italic, strikethrough formatting
  • Bullet and numbered lists
  • Code blocks: For technical content
  • Block quotes: For important excerpts
  • Links: To external URLs or other documents in your library
  • Inline citations: Reference documents from your library directly

Linking notes to documents

Notes can be connected to one or more documents:

  1. Open the note
  2. Click Link Document in the toolbar
  3. Search for and select documents from your library

Linked documents appear in the note’s sidebar, giving you quick access to the original source.

Organizing notes

  • Collections: Notes appear alongside documents in collections
  • Search: Notes are fully searchable just like documents
  • Pin: Pin important notes to the top of your sidebar

Auto-save is always on. Your notes are saved as you type, so there’s no need to click Save.

Tips for research notes

  • One note per concept: Rather than one massive note, create focused notes per idea or finding
  • Use headings: Structure makes notes scannable later
  • Link liberally: Connect notes to their source documents for easy reference
  • Review regularly: Come back to notes periodically to synthesize and refine
